Human trafficking is transporting or selling human beings by force, often for the purpose of sexual or labour exploitation. People smuggling is illegally transporting human beings across borders. Both are serious criminal offences that often have severe consequences for those involved. The government is working to combat human trafficking and people smuggling, and offers shelter and assistance to victims of these practices.
