Truck Platooning

Truck platooning refers to a group of lorries travelling safely and automatically in convoy, a short distance apart. Since the lorries communicate with each other, they can travel in sync. The vehicle at the head of the convoy acts as the leader. Innovative technology is used to drive it.

The government wants truck platooning to be possible throughout the EU. To this end, legislation in EU member states needs to be as uniform as possible. Dutch legislation has already been amended to allow innovative vehicles to be tested on public roads.
