Internships for foreign students in the Netherlands

If you come to the Netherlands to do a internship, certain rules apply. This depends on your nationality, your course and the length of time you will be in the Netherlands.

Examples of rules for international students

Depending on your situation, you will need to arrange for example:

  • a residence permit;
  • a work permit;
  • a citizen service number (BSN);
  • your registration with a Dutch municipality;
  • legalisation of your foreign documents such as a birth or marriage certificate;
  • compulsory insurance such as health insurance.
