Determining the new monthly student loan repayment amount

This request will be handled by the Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs – DUO. If you ask DUO for a reduction in the monthly amount, they will calculate how much you can repay per month (in Dutch). This is done on the basis of your income 2 years ago. If your income has decreased suddenly, you can ask DUO to base the calculation on the previous or current year.

If the calculation results in a lower amount than what you are currently paying back, DUO will reduce the monthly amount.

The new amount is valid for 1 year. After a year, your situation will be reviewed.
