If you intend not to use a vehicle for a long period of time, you can have it suspended. Your car, motorbike or camper van, for example. You do not pay motor vehicle tax for a suspended vehicle. Nor will the APK (periodic vehicle inspection) be required in that case.

Applying for a suspension
You can apply for a suspension of your vehicle at the RDW (Netherlands Vehicle Authority). This can be done online or in person at a counter, desk or testing station.
The suspension of your vehicle will end automatically after the period you have chosen. If you want to use your vehicle before that time, you can end the suspension with the RDW.
If you have a suspended motor vehicle that is 15 years old or older, such as a classic car, you can register for the events scheme. This will allow you to use your vehicle temporarily during approved events, such as commemorations or parades.
