In the future people from 59 visa-exempt countries will need a ETIAS authorisation to enter the Netherlands and 29 other European countries for a short stay.
Attention: the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is currently not in operation. No applications for travel authorisations are collected at this point.
The European Union will inform about the specific date for the start of ETIAS several months prior to its launch.
With the future ETIAS travel authorisation, people from 59 visa exempt countries can enter the territory of 30 European countries as often as they want for short-term stays - normally for up to 90 days in any 180-day period - if they meet all other entry conditions. ETIAS brings new obligations to carriers
International airlines, sea and coach operators will also have a role to play. Once ETIAS is launched, air and sea carriers will be required to verify, within 48 hours before the departure, that visa-exempt travellers have a valid ETIAS travel authorisation.
