Are you going on a trip abroad, and is your residence permit temporarily no longer valid? Or will your permit expire while you are abroad? If so, you will need a terugkeervisum (return visa) to travel back to the Netherlands. You should apply for the return visa before you leave for abroad. To do this, you can make an appointment at the IND desk.
