Registering an aircraft in the aircraft register

Are you the owner of an aircraft, such as a sport aircraft, a self-built aircraft or a motorised sailplane? Before you are allowed to fly it, you must enter your aircraft in the luchtvaartuigregister (aircraft register). This register is kept by the Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport – ILT (Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate).

Documents required for entry in the aircraft register

You must submit documents or bring them with you when having your aircraft entered in the register. These include, for example, a certificate of registration, a bewijs van luchtwaardigheid (airworthiness certificate) and a zendvergunning (radio licence). You must, however, also bring a document stating how much noise your aircraft makes. With the exception of the radio licence, you can request these documents from the ILT.

The ILT provides a complete overview of the documents (in Dutch) that you need to bring with you when having your aircraft entered in the register.

Applying for a radio licence

For the purpose of communication in your aircraft, you must apply to the Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur (Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure) for a radio licence (in Dutch). You must take the radio licence with you when you have your aircraft entered in the aircraft register.

Applying for aircraft registration documents

Do you wish to have your aircraft entered in the ILT register? If so, you must apply for a bewijs van inschrijving (certificate of registration). You need an inschrijvingskenmerk (registration reference) to do this. You can request this reference by phoning the ILT on +31 (0)88 489 00 00. In addition, you must enclose the radio licence and the documents from the ILT with your application.
