Over 8 million people in the Netherlands sometimes play games of chance, such as lotteries, bingo or casino games. Thousands of them run the risk of becoming addicted to gambling. Vulnerable groups need to be protected against addiction and fraud. The Gaming Authority checks whether gaming providers are complying with the rules and takes action if they do not have a licence.
