The main aim of government communications is to enable the public to exercise their right to access government information. This allows people to evaluate and influence government policy. The government's duty to provide information is set out in the Government Information (Public Access) Act (WOB).
The prime minister is responsible for overall central government communications policy. The Government Information Service (RVD) coordinates this policy.
