Public authorities as employers

The present Government is focusing on good employment practice. In both the long and the short term, the public authorities will require professional and dedicated staff. They also want to remain attractive employers. To do so, they will have to find new ways of working and investing in people, and they will have to work together to keep their professionals mobile and give them professional freedom. By doing so - and by maintaining a link between the public and private sector labour markets - they will be able to ensure that the right people are in the right place.
