Circular business models face significant challenges in securing the financing they need, making it harder to achieve circular economy ambitions in both the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The financial sector plays a key role in enabling this transition. Recognizing the need for stronger cross-border cooperation, both countries are working with governments, financial institutions, businesses, and knowledge partners to strengthen and expand financing for the circular economy, while supporting broader efforts to finance the transition to a more resilient and sustainable economy. During London Climate Action Week, Minister van Veldhoven and UK Nature Minister Mary Creagh signed a joint statement committing both governments to support and encourage the financial sector to make financing for the circular economy more accessible.
