On 1 January 2024, the statutory minimum hourly wage was introduced. This is the minimum wage per hour worked. Since 2024, there have no longer been fixed statutory minimum monthly, weekly, or daily wages.

Hourly minimum wage for all employees

Since 1 January 2024, employers have been legally required to pay workers at least the hourly minimum wage. The hourly minimum wage is the same for all employees aged 21 years and older.

For employees under the age of 21, fixed statutory minimum youth hourly wages have applied since 1 January 2024. These youth minimum hourly wages are derived from the statutory minimum hourly wage, as was also the case in 2023.

All employers pay the same minimum wage

With the introduction of the statutory hourly minimum wage on 1 January 2024, the same minimum hourly wage applies to all workers employed by all employers.
