Applying for a PD U1 form to apply for unemployment benefit outside the Netherlands

Are you applying for unemployment benefit in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland? If you have previously worked in the Netherlands you may have been insured for unemployment benefit in the Netherlands. In that case you will need a PD U1 form for your application.

Insured for unemployment benefit in the Netherlands

The PD U1 form lists the periods during which you were insured against unemployment (in Dutch) in the Netherlands. Your employment history in the Netherlands will then be taken into account when your application is assessed.

Applying for the PD U1 form from the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV)

You can apply to UWV for the PD U1 form from 4 weeks before the end of your employment relationship. The form will be sent to you in 6 to 8 weeks.
