Primary education

In the Netherlands children may go to primary school from the age of four. Most children go to primary school for eight years. Children with learning difficulties can go to a special school for primary education. Special education may be the best option for children who need more support. Since August 2014 schools have a duty of care to offer all pupils an appropriate place. This is referred to as appropriate education.
