How can I check the WOZ value is correct?

You can use the house price information recorded by the Land Registry (Kadaster) to find out if the WOZ value is approximately correct. You can also request a valuation report for your home or business premises from your municipality.

Land Registry's house price information

The Land Registry (Kadaster) can provide information about the price that homes in a particular postcode area sold for. This allows you to compare the WOZ value of your home with the price of similar properties that sold around the reference date (1 January of the previous year).

Valuation report from the municipality

Municipalities determine the value of immovable property every year by carrying out a valuation. The valuation report lists the properties used to calculate the WOZ value. The municipality bases the value on the amount the property would have sold for on the reference date (1 January of the previous year).

You receive a WOZ decision every year. Municipalities often attach the valuation report to the WOZ decision. You can also request the valuation report for your home or business premises from your municipality. Contact your municipality to find out how.
