Directorate-General for the Tax Administration

The Tax Administration is responsible for levying, monitoring and collecting state taxes. In addition to supervising taxation, it performs a number of non-tax-related tasks.

The Tax Administration levies and collects national insurance contributions, employee insurance contributions and income-related healthcare insurance contributions. It also investigates tax and non-tax fraud, often for the Ministry of Justice and Security. And it carries out several supervisory tasks for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy in relation to economic governance, such as checking compliance with the obligation to file annual accounts.
