Are you a zij-instromer (lateral entry teacher) following a programme to obtain your teaching qualification? If so, you must take a competency test. If you pass this test, you will receive a competency test certificate. This certificate allows you to teach as a qualified teacher.

Applying for a competency test as part of a training programme
You can apply for a competency test at your teacher training institution. You must do this within two years of starting your training programme.
Competency requirements
The competency test must show that you meet the statutory competence requirements for teachers (in Dutch). The competency requirements vary depending on the education sector.
