Evaluations of activities and programmes are usually conducted by third parties on behalf of missions and departments, the so-called decentral evaluations.

At the ministry of Foreign Affairs, many policy evaluations and other evaluations are conducted by Internationaal Onderzoek en Beleidsevaluatie.
